WE DON’T RECOMMEND BUYING EGGS FROM GIANT.

HIGH PRICES, LOW STANDARDS

Many of the eggs on Giant’s shelves come from facilities you’d never want to step foot in. Giant sources eggs from battery cage farms: filthy, dark sheds in which thousands of hens are crammed inside tiny wire cages. There’s no way around it — these are facilities Giant would prefer you never thought about.

Before their eggs hit the shelves, hens are forced to eat, sleep, defecate, and lay eggs in the same cage day after day. Battery cage facilities are so controversial that they’re banned in numerous states and dozens of countries. Not even McDonald’s or Taco Bell will use these eggs.

Is this what you want to be feeding your family?

HERE’S THE PROBLEM

CUSTOMERS HAVE NO IDEA JUST HOW BAD GIANT’S EGGS REALLY ARE

DISGUSTING

According to the Center for Food Safety, cage conditions can compromise food safety. Hens in battery cages are “often covered in feces from birds in overhead cages, and are prone to drowning in manure trenches”' leading to increased contamination risks.

LOW QUALITY

A 2023 study conducted by North Carolina State University found that housing environment significantly affects egg quality.

Eggs from conventional cages were consistently of lower quality compared to those from more extensive systems such as cage-free and free-range.

BEHIND THE TIMES

Producing eggs in battery cage facilities is illegal in numerous states and dozens of countries. Thousands of companies, including other major grocers, have also banned cage eggs from their supply chains.

YOU CAN’T TRUST THESE GUYS TO DO RIGHT BY YOUR FAMILY

You probably didn’t know that Giant is owned by a company in the Netherlands called Ahold Delhaize. There, that company banned battery cage eggs from its stores many years ago. In America, customers are still getting the same disgusting eggs — why? Is it because Giant’s leadership just doesn’t care about quality?

Top executives call the shots on policies and practices in Giant’s supply chain. They’re fully aware of the concerns related to these practices, but under their leadership, the company has dragged its feet and greenwashed its policies.
